Recoil S2 vs Recoil S2 Home: What's the Difference?

Same trainer, different mounting hardware. What each kit includes and how to choose by where you'll anchor it.

Recoil S2 Home suspension trainer with bag and door mount

The Recoil S2 and the Recoil S2 Home are the same suspension trainer. The unit, the straps, the adjustment system and the grips are identical. What differs is the mounting hardware in the box, and that decides where you can anchor it. If you'll train from a bar, rack or wall bar, the standard S2 has what you need. If you want to train from a door, the S2 Home adds the mount for it.

What both kits share

Because the trainer itself is the same, every feature below applies to both kits:

  • Retractable straps. The full strap length stores inside the unit, and only the length you're using comes out, so there are no loose ends to tangle.
  • Push-button adjustment. Both straps adjust together to any length at the press of a button.
  • Head-to-toe adjustment range. Recoil describes the S2 as having the largest primary adjustment range on the market, so one setup covers exercises from standing rows to feet-in-straps core work.
  • Easy-adjust foot straps. Slide the handle down to snug the strap with your foot already in place, and back up to release. Recoil notes they're comfortable for barefoot training.
  • Grips and straps. Textured, non-slip rubber grips and high-strength polyester straps that Recoil compares to automotive seatbelt webbing.

Choose the Recoil S2 if…

  • You already have a solid anchor: a power rack, a pull-up bar, a beam or BenchK wall bars.
  • You're adding suspension training to an existing home gym.
  • You're a trainer who anchors to whatever bar or rack is available.

The included lashing strap attaches the S2 to a bar or rack in seconds. On BenchK wall bars, it wraps around a rung, and BenchK's compatibility data lists it as fitting every BenchK wall bar series. That makes the S2 a natural add-on for a BenchK wall bar setup: the rung height you choose sets the anchor height.

Choose the Recoil S2 Home if…

  • You don't have a bar, rack or wall bars, and a door is your only practical anchor.
  • You train in an apartment or a room that can't take wall-mounted equipment.
  • You travel and want to train in hotel rooms.
  • You want both options: the lashing strap for a bar and the door mount for everywhere else.

In the Home kit, the bag and door mount are combined, so the carrying bag and the anchor stay together and are harder to lose. Recoil describes it as turning a door into a gym in a few seconds. Follow Recoil's instructions for fitting the door mount, and use a solid door.

Other Recoil kits

Recoil also makes Gym and Pro kits of the same trainer with different mounting hardware, including a permanent wall or ceiling mount. KORVN currently carries the S2 and the S2 Home. If you need a permanent anchor for a facility, contact KORVN.

Which should you buy?

Ask one question: where will you anchor it? If the answer is a bar, a rack or wall bars, buy the Recoil S2. If the answer includes a door, or you're not sure yet, the Recoil S2 Home covers both, for slightly more.

Getting more from it

A suspension trainer pairs well with other space-efficient equipment. On BenchK wall bars you set the anchor height by choosing the rung, then fine-tune the strap length with the button. For more ideas on training in a compact room, see Best Gym Equipment for Small Spaces.
