The Series I is American Barbell's top urethane dumbbell. Its patented splined anti-loosening lock means the handle-to-head connection tightens as the dumbbell is dropped, not loosens. The USA-made high-strength chrome handle is precision knurled, and the heads are black textured German urethane bonded to a solid steel core.
How it compares
American Barbell builds several dumbbell lines. The Series I is the top line: a patented splined handle-to-head connection, a USA-made high-strength handle rated at 130,000 PSI, and German urethane heads. The Series IV (round, 10-sided and VM round) pairs a solid steel core with a 90,000 PSI chrome handle and a urethane head. The Series 5 and the hex dumbbells use rubber heads over a steel core and chrome handle, with Series 5 listed for light-commercial use. Choose the Series I for high-traffic commercial floors and heavy use; American Barbell itself points high-abuse environments to the Series I.
